Health planning budgets face cuts threaten areawide program
Reagan Administration budget plans slash federal funding for Health Systems Agencies including MHPC, dropping MHPC’s federal money from about 1.3 million to roughly 665 thousand and potentially halting areawide health planning by 1982 unless Congress acts. MHPC serves Lorain, Cuyahoga, Medina, Geauga and Lake counties and must endorse hospital, mental health, nursing facility plans and major equipment purchases.

Berea Police Cars Firebombed Behind Station
Two Berea police cruisers were lightly damaged when a man threw a burning device behind the station in the East Bridge Street lot after 8 p.m. The 1979 Ford LTD IIs had scorched hoods. witnesses saw the suspect flee toward Rocky River Metropark. Police found two gasoline bottles with shop rags nearby. the man, 18 to 20, dressed in dark clothing, was not located.

SJC Parent Seeks Reorganization Under Chapter 11
Smith-Jones Inc, parent of SJC Corp Elyria Division, filed a Chapter 11 petition in Minneapolis seeking to reorganize finances. Attorney Tom Berry said the goal is to keep all divisions operating and not liquidate, with a creditor committee to form within 30 to 60 days and a list of creditors due within 120 days. Suit seeks $100000 lost from Allen Memorial Hospital

New judgments hit Dettore in Ohio court rulings
A $1.4 million judgment was entered in common pleas court against North Ridgeville developer Frank Dettore his wife Catherine and North Ridge Investment Corp by Citizens Federal Savings and Loan Association on a cognovit note with 11 percent interest from July 1 1979. A separate $1,045,593 foreclosure suit was filed March 6 against Dettore and his company by Cardinal Federal Savings and Loan Association. Earlier this month Transphio Savings Association filed ten foreclosure suits totaling $529,723. The pre trial hearing before Common Pleas Judge Adrian F Bedeski involved hospital insurance claims and the TL Moise accounting firm in relation to a loss suit filed June 11 with undisclosed amount. Palin was indicted for grand theft and found guilty March 16. the case remains pending a pre sentence report.

Fatal Eaton fire claims 70-year-old in bedroom blaze
In Eaton Township a fire started by an electric space heater in a bedroom killed Charles Neal, 70. Marshia Nelson, his daughter, described his will to live and said efforts to rescue him failed as flames spread from the rug to the wall and a nearby chair, leaving the home at 1818% E Royalton Road damaged. Firefighters later advised turning to page A-4 for more details.
