Inflation climbs to 12.1 percent in February
The February Consumer Price Index rose 1.0 percent as energy costs jump 5.1 percent amid renewed double digit inflation. The government previously reported 9.1 percent for January, and some forecasters link the rise to Reagan era decontrol of oil prices.

Elyria to name Marion man parks director
Elyria hires 31 year old Philip R. Innis assistant recreation director from Marion to be parks and recreation director. He will assume duties before May 1 and replaces Charles Hoagland who shifted to safety service director after 16 years in the post. Innis, married with two children, has degree from Eastern Kentucky University and has worked in parks management since 1973 in LaPlata Maryland Dayton and Marion. He toured Elyria parks and plans to study programs before proposing changes. Hoagland called Innis highly recommended from a field of 70 applicants nationwide.

Rhodes Budget Shortfall Hits Ohio Plan for 1982 83
Ohio House Finance Committee heard Richard Sheridan, director of the Legislative Budget Office, say the Rhodes administration's proposed 20.5 billion dollar budget for 1982 83 is more than 500 million underbalanced due to overestimated revenues and higher welfare Medicaid costs. He cited a 322 million shortfall for next year and 180 million for 1983 with a method to recoup 196 million, warning administrators have used balancing mechanisms akin to beating a check to the bank.
