Fire damages second story home in Columbia Twp
Investigators seek the fire cause after a Sprague Road residence was heavily damaged on the second story and attic while residents were away. Karl Newton and son Craig rescued what they could and reported rapid fire growth before firefighters arrived within minutes. The estimate stands at about $70,000 in damage.

Tragic murder suicide ends Lorain couple’s troubled chapter
Tammy Creak 38 moved out of the Sheffield Lake home she shared with husband Roger Creak 41. Police say Roger shot Tammy in the basement before turning the gun on himself in an apparent murder death by own action. The bodies were found by neighbors Jon and Anne Dougan in the Lorain residence. The couple had been separated amid financial struggles and Tammy had sought a divorce. Detective Bermudez noted Roger did not want the divorce, a possible motive remains under investigation.

Medina man linked to Oberlin break ins targets student medicine
Oberlin police seek Ronald Augustine, a Medina man with prior burglary charges, after a 4:45 p.m. intrusion at a North Main Street residence shared by Oberlin College students. He fled when spotted, was later found by officers near the Oberlin Inn, and charged with burglary and theft of prescription pills. Police urge anyone with similar incidents to contact them at 774-1061.
