Portraits of a war memorial at Arlington opens today
Washington art project honors soldiers killed in Iraq and Afghanistan with portraits by multiple artists. It pairs each image with the fallen’s name hometown and date of death, displayed along a half circle inside the cemetery entrance. The exhibit, created to offer healing and a apolitical remembrance, runs through Veterans Day and includes portraits done in canvas, fabric, clay and other media.
