Crystal Gayle and Tom T Hall lead entertainment for the 125th Lorain County Fair opening August 18. Gayle will perform two shows on Saturday August 23 while Hall, a songwriter and poet, earns hall of fame recognition and performs two shows August 22. The fair runs with circus acts August 18, tractor pulls August 19 20 and harness plus mule racing through August 21 22.

Szabo Fails State Scoring Mark by Seven Points in Loss
Firelands star Bill Szabo finished his four year career with 2,566 points, 33.9 ppg this season, but Napoleon defeated Firelands 88 60 in the Class AA Regional at Bowling Green. Girl buried in rocks on beach identifies suspect
An eight year old girl abducted and buried overnight beneath rocks near a Galveston beach survived and identified Jeffery Steven Goldberg, 21, alias Steve Cummings, as the suspect. He faces kidnapping and attempted capital murder charges with bonds set at $100,000. The girl recalled a man with a backpack and helped police reconstruct the ordeal.

Radiator trouble leads suspects to police impound lot
Three auto theft suspects stole cars in Cleveland Heights and Lorain, then headed toward Cleveland where one overheated. They stopped at a police impound lot behind the station, where two of the three, a 16-year-old juvenile and Anthony Suffard, 21, from Cleveland, were arrested on receiving stolen property charges. A third suspect escaped and is being sought. Suffard was released on a $1,000 bond.
