Written estimates and disclosure become law in Michigan for repairs over $20. Dealers must show replaced parts and provide a signed detailed statement. The plan includes state certification by 1981, license suspension for noncompliance, and a three month or 8000 mile parts and labor guarantee from AMC. Critics warn of higher costs and slow service.

Suit filed to block Revco Cleveland acquisition
The Justice Department filed a civil suit in Cleveland against Revco Discount Drug Centers Inc seeking to block its planned acquisition of Cook United’s Cleveland retail outlets. The department argues the deal would reduce competition under the Clayton Antitrust Act by giving Revco about 19.7 percent of the Cleveland market. Revco, Cleveland’s largest drug chain in 1975 with 48 stores, posted $9.8 million in sales for the year ending May 31. Cook United ran 1,2,2g stores and leased drug departments in Cleveland with $2.1 million in sales for the year ending Dec. 28, 1975, or 3.6 percent of the market.

Court Upholds City Residency Rule
Supreme Court ruled today that city employee residency requirements do not violate the right to travel. The unsigned three page opinion upheld a Philadelphia ordinance requiring city workers to live within city limits. Justices left intact an Ohio ruling striking down a similar rule for officers hired before the law took effect, noting the Ohio decision may rely on state law rather than the federal constitution.
