Canadian Sees Nearly Normal Wheat Market
John I. McFarland, Canadian Government wheat expert, told the Saskatchewan School Trustees Association in Moose Jaw that world wheat production and consumption are nearing normal. He forecast Canada’s carryover dropping to under 100 million bushels by August, from 194 million last year and 211 million in 1933, noting Canada may supply more than half of the world’s remaining wheat needs, about 3230 million bushels. He cited global consumption of 552 million to be consumed this season, with only 219 million shipped by December 1934, highlighting Russia and other major producers in the meg countries.
