Oberlin teachers and community members gathered at Tappan Square to demand increased public education funding. They warned funding cuts could trigger RIFs and raise class sizes, urging support for Title I and foundation funding in the state budget.
Oberlin City Council unanimously approved funding to buy three virtual reality headsets at 2100 dollars each for police training. The department aims to train on duty, reducing travel for CPT mandatory courses and leveraging state reimbursement to offset costs. Oberlin officials say the tech keeps officers ahead and potentially cuts training expenses.
More than 200 animals were removed from a Wellington farm after humane agents found overgrown hooves and underweight sheep along with dead stock in cold weather. The owner initially cooperated but later refused access, leading to a search warrant. Seized were 201 live animals including 100 plus sheep and goats, plus turkeys geese chickens and rabbits. Twenty nine dead rabbits and lambs were sent for necropsy.
