Lorain County officials investigate after a poll worker was seen bringing blank provisional ballots into the MAHD House Bar & Grille on North Ridge Road. No ballots were used or tampered with. seals remained intact. The case involves the sheriff, prosecutors, and the secretary of state.
Martin Gallagher defeated incumbent commissioner Michelle Hung 69 percent to 31 percent with 16 104 votes to 7 178. Gallagher advances to face Democrat Tony Dimacchia in November as Hung’s term ends January 2 2025 amid ethics probes and past controversy.
Rich Resendez won the Lorain County sheriff Democratic nomination with 11 155 votes to 7 527 for Rick Thomas about 60 to 40 percent per unofficial results from the county board of elections. He credited experience with the Lorain Police Department and the Sheriff's Office and vowed to expand outreach to all voters in the general election. Thomas praised the campaign and thanked supporters in a social media post.
