System outage pauses Elyria utility payments today
Elyria utility customers cannot pay bills online or by phone from 6 a.m. to about noon due to system upgrades begun in 2014. For questions call the Utilities Office at (440) 326-1570. Also, Lorain County Early College High School enrollment is open for Elyria eighth graders and neighboring districts with an information session at Northwood Middle School on Wednesday.

Avon police car crashes into utility truck on Route 83
Avon police car rear ended a work truck in the 2800 block of State Route 83 about 2 40 a m. Both the officer Officer Andy Kehl and a worker in an elevated bucket were taken for precautionary evaluation. Route 83 was closed about two hours while Ohio Highway Patrol investigated. Police seek dash cam footage to review events. Alcohol not believed involved.
