An Ohio Senate subcommittee favors a city by city volunteer anti-litter plan modeled on Keep America Beautiful. The program would rely on municipalities with industry and volunteers, funded by a 7 to 10 million dollar annual surcharge on corporate taxes. The bill aims for local education, enforcement, and promotion with statewide volunteer start rather than a state administered system. Keep America Beautiful data cites litter reductions in Cincinnati Weirton Indianapolis and others as benchmarks.
