Mississippi Reverie and Hannibal Memory
A writer recalls a June day by the Mississippi River, the sensory simplicity of a dock picnic, and a lifelong fascination with the river. The piece then links that moment to Hannibal Mississippi, Twain’s boyhood home, and the blending of imagination with real places, noting the river’s enduring national role and timeless summers.
