Lorain Plaster Contractor Harry Bratton Dies at 51
Harry Bratton 51 of Lorain died in St Josephs Hospital after a period of poor health. He worked as a plaster contractor and served 15 years on the Lorain County Soldier and Sailor Relief Commission. Survived by widow Zeta a son Harry and daughter Betty Pries a brother Jack. His body to Ford Thompson Mortuary pending services. County commissioners passed a resolution recognizing his relief commission service.

WALTON Kentucky early today a spectacular blaze destroyed the Phoenix hotel routing a dozen guests from rooms. Several leaped from second floor windows to the ground while others dressed and left by a stairway. No injuries were reported.

Sixteen cars of an 88 car New York Central freight train derailed two miles east of Vermilion after a dropped draw bar. No injuries were reported as wrecked cars blocked the right of way on NYC lines, prompting rerouted trains via Norwalk. Wreck trains were dispatched and officials expected clearance by 6 p.m.

Incorporation Discussed At Ridgeville Meeting
About 75 residents attended a Ridgeville Township open session on incorporation at the town hall. H. G. Stacey chaired. The gathering heard from Ernest Herron on a previous meeting and D. P. Lear on school conditions. Ridgeville population is about 5,000 with 1,178 homes and 80 trailers. 54 homes were added to the tax duplicate last year yielding only 130 in tax income. Six Prisoners Die From Mattress Fire In Jail
SPRAY New York Six prisoners died from suffocation when two mattresses ignited in a county jail. Sheriff Hodges refused to name the deceased, five men and one woman. In Roseville Ohio a three story Nelson McCoy pottery factory was destroyed by a spectacular early morning fire. Damage estimated between 200000 and 390000 dollars. Pearl Buckley 35 a Roseville volunteer firefighter suffered a broken leg after a 20 foot fall from the roof and was hospitalized in Zanesville. The plant employed about 300 workers who will be rehired to help rebuild.

Mrs Julia Wise Killed In Morning Car Crash
Victim 24, Julia Ruth Wise of Amberlain Road R D Gratton died before 7 am when her car, driven by neighbor Kenneth Cook 44, collided with a westbound Inter City Transport Co truck at Durkee Road and Route 32. Cook suffered minor injuries. Crew headed to Cleveland where both were employed. The truck, loaded with steel, struck after Wise and Cook crossed Route 82. Mrs Wise worked in the New York Central Railroad office in Cleveland. Cook is sales manager for Crawford Overhead Door Co. He was treated at Elyria Memorial Hospital.
