Gerald Nau Dies After Long Illness at 52
Gerald Carl Nau 52 a longtime Elyria resident and active Elks Eagles and Masonic member died at 12 30 am Sunday at his home 140 Bellfield avenue after a year of illness. He served as chief deputy sheriff under Clarence Dick and was born in Vermilion July 13 1900. He leaves a wife a mother a brother and a niece. Services will be held at the Elks Lodge with burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park.

16 Students At Nursing School Receive Caps

Train Hits Truck in Oberlin, Driver Seriously Hurt
A dump truck was struck by a Chicago bound passenger train at Root Road crossing near noon. Driver James Anderson, 60, of 193 South Park Street Oberlin, suffered brain concussion and arm fracture and was listed in critical condition at Elyria Memorial Hospital. A woman passenger on the train was cut. her identity was not learned.

Amherst Lt Darakis Missing In Action Since March 10
The Defense Department reports Second Lieutenant Peter Darakis of Amherst as missing in action since March 10. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 and served as a pilot in Korea, completing 50 missions by late February, which would normally entitle a rest period.

The eastern Great Lakes region and the Mid-Atlantic States were set for cloudy and colder conditions with scattered snow flurries near the lakes and in the mountains of Pennsylvania and New York. Warmer temperatures were predicted for today and Tuesday across the eastern plains and the Mississippi and Ohio River valleys.
