Six Rescued From Sunken Trawler
ELIZABETH CITY N C coast guard rescued six crew from the sunken trawler Alice Ann and aided the trawler Sea Rambler which opened a seam and took on water near Virginia Beach Virginia Beach sighted the Alice Ann crew clinging to rigging offshore about 18 miles south of the city. Two amphibious ducks and two helicopters were mobilized for the rescue. The Alice Ann crew were unhurt and not identified. Six men were aboard the Sea Rambler. one was injured while all others remained aboard.

Parole Granted to Twice-Escaped Ohio Bank Robber
Cleveland bank robber James Newman, serving a life sentence for a 1930 Westerville bank holdup, was granted parole by the Ohio Pardon and Parole Commission.
