Vanished Huntington House remembered by Elyria readers
Elyria readers recount the Huntington House on Hast Bridge Street once owned by the Elyria Gospel Mission in the 1920s and 30s and later torn down in 1960. They describe its 22 rooms, fine woodwork in black walnut oak and cherry, a grand entrance hall, stained glass, a secret panel safe, and the summer kitchen. Memorials come from Mrs. John Klein, Marian Krueck, and others who recalled weddings, gardens, and church origins, as stories span decades and reflect the town to 84‑year‑old locals.
