Benny and Hope Shun Vegas Gigs for Hollywood Club Debuts
United Press reports Jack Benny and Bob Hope rejected large Las Vegas offers to perform in Hollywood clubs this week. Both stars accepted $25 union minimums for one night stands at Mocambo and Sunset Strip venues while continuing to pursue other media fortunes. The piece notes rival names and the era’s showbiz decisions, including Marie Wilson and Charlie Morrison’s brief involvement and the star-studded social scene surrounding the nightclub circuit.
