Union: Budgetax would cut state jobs in Ohio and beyond
The American Federation of Teachers estimates Reagan budget cuts could eliminate 1 of every 10 Ohio state jobs, about 5,610 positions, and threaten 126,000 across the nation. New York, Florida, California, and Texas top the state losses, with South Dakota and Montana hardest relative to budgets.

Volkswagen UAW ratifies last minute contracts Pennsylvania and West Virginia
UAW workers at Volkswagen plants in New Stanton Pennsylvania and South Charleston West Virginia voted to approve new two year contracts just hours before old deals expired. Votes were 1689 to 139 in New Stanton and 225 to 61 in South Charleston with terms not disclosed. A Fort Worth Texas agreement for 350 workers was to be voted separately.
