Girl, 16, killed as winds whip trailer
Severe winds up to 70 mph from two storms caused a mobile home to break free in Hartland Township south of Olena, killing 16 year old Vickie Pocock of Huron County. Her mother Mary Jo Pocock was treated for minor injuries. The first line of storms moved through at 3:30 p.m., with a second front bringing higher winds between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Damage was reported across Huron and Erie counties, including downed lines, trees, and a roof lifted from Stepping Stone Boys Home on Murray Ridge. The Lorain County Regional Airport clocked 70 mph.
