Von Bulow Trial Nears Verdict In Final Summations

Newport Rhode Island UPI reports the von Bulow murder trial enters final summations as defense attorney Herald Price Fahringer and prosecutor Stephen Famighetti present two hours each. Jury retires to deliberate after nine weeks of testimony with insulin murder-plot allegations and 46 defense exhibits plus 71 state exhibits.

Tropics travel raises antibiotic resistant bacteria risk

Canadian researchers Letarte and Bergeron report that international travel to tropical regions increases the likelihood of acquiring antibiotic resistant bacteria. In a study of 90 travelers, resistance emerged mainly to ampicillin, tetracycline, and chloramphenicol, and may transfer between bacteria. They presented at the American Society for Microbiology meeting.
