Farm Home Destroyed By Fire Near New London
NEW LONDON The frame farm home of Mr and Mrs Verlin Runkle two miles east of town burned at 11 50 am yesterday the family had only the clothing they wore and a few furniture pieces. The fire started in the kitchen probably from an overheated stove. Two of the couple s five children were at school and the others were at a farm women s club meeting. Neighbors cared for the family. Red Cross has sent workers and a village fund was started for the family.

Three Young Men Bound Over to Grand Jury in Break-In

Soldier Will Arrive Tuesday For Elyria Soldier Burial
The body of Staff Sgt. Leonard Waldron will arrive in Elyria from New York Tuesday at 11 55 AM and be taken to Sudro Curtis Funeral Home. Waldron, 21, was killed October 9 1943 on his tenth mission with the 922nd Bomb Squadron over Germany. He was born April 24 1922 in Elyria and worked at American Shipbuilding before enlistment. Surviving: mother Mrs Wade Johnson, father Theodore Waldron, brother Richard, sister Mrs Ted James, half sister Karen Johnson, half brother Albert Johnson, grandfather Frank Waldron, grandmother Mrs Lillian Austin.
