Ohio State Coach Tressel Faces NCAA Sanctions Fallout
Ohio State coach Jim Tressel faces NCAA sanctions after revelations of his knowledge of a federal probe into players. The NCAA may reject self imposed penalties as Terrelle Pryor and four teammates served suspensions for selling jerseys and rings to a tattoo parlor owner. Tressel expressed disappointment and responsibility while athletic director Gene Smith defended the coach. The investigation centers on improper benefits and potential program violations.
