Old Lyme Connecticut AP reports that bank teller There sa Torza may lose her job due to a money allergy. She describes her hands breaking out in an itchy rash as she handles cash, likening it to a severe dishpan hands condition.
Oliver and the Artful Dodger are caught by Fagin and Bill Sykes in the Elyria Catholic High School musical Oliver! to be presented Sunday and Monday at 8 p.m. at the high school. The cast includes Bill Kakucka as Fagin and Ed Martin as the Artful Dodger.
United Press International reports the federal government may act today on a back to work court order as the nations longest coal strike nears a pivotal move. The coal board says negotiations are essentially deadlocked and UMW leaders push for a Taft Hartley act seizure to force 160000 miners back to work. Ohio power shortages loom with out of state power purchases already 10 to 15 percent of demand.
UPI reports the Labor Department data show wholesale prices jumping 1.1 percent in February led by food costs. The 13.2 percent year over year increase signals potential consumer-price pressure and may affect 1978 projections.
The forecast calls for sunny skies and mild conditions with lows in the mid teens. Tonight will be clear with near zero precipitation, and Friday will be sunny with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s and a 10 percent chance of rain.
Mayor Marguerite Bowman met with three gay community readers in her office for over two hours and said she would not veto the equal employment provisions for homosexuals. Police identified a hoax arrest in Norfolk, Virginia, and noted Flynt’s condition as critical but improving at times.
U S Representative Don J. Pease of Oberlin announced his bid for re election in the 13th District. The 46 year old Democrat described his first term as unusually active and successful and said it lays groundwork for future service. He serves on the House International Relations Committee and has drawn national attention for backing a trade boycott of Uganda, especially coffee, to pressure Amin's regime.
