Joe DiMaggio The Yankee Clipper died at his Hollywood Florida home aged 84 after lung cancer surgery and weeks of complications. His brother Dominick and close friends were at his bedside as his body was flown to Northern California for a San Francisco burial. DiMaggio famed for a 56 game hitting streak and 13 major league seasons with 10 pennant winners and 9 World Series titles left a lasting legacy as a refined sports icon.
Allen Memorial Hospital will eliminate 25 positions at week’s end as EMH Regional Medical Center in Elyria secures the region’s Medicare contract, reducing Oberlin’s business. President James H. Schaum says the move is an adjustment to lower payments from Medicare and insurers, affecting nursing and management across departments.

In Elyria a massotherapist, John D. Spanos, 57, of Cleveland, was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of gross sexual imposition involving a handicapped patient.
