Children help end fear of death says UC psychologist

Berkeley Calif UPI A University of California psychologist says children can help end the fear of death by challenging the Grim Reaper image. Dr Charles Garfield notes adults freeze when facing dying but children engage, easing isolation and opening dialogue with terminal patients. He aims to create a center for dying in a hospital and to promote dying as an inevitable life stage. Garfield, at UCSF Medical Center, advocates trained care teams and public guidance to shift perceptions and reduce fear.
