A Franklin County judge urged Mohamad and Aysha Bary to continue counseling to reconcile with their 17 year old daughter Rifqa Bary who ran away to Florida last year claiming she would be harmed for converting from Islam to Christianity. The parents oppose a January reconciliation plan and argue the county child welfare agency should limit contact with a Florida pastor who sheltered her. The judge said professional help is needed and that only the three of them can repair the family. Police investigated possible illegal help in her departure but found no evidence of harm.
Ohio Supreme Court orders Monarch Construction Co to pay about 368000 dollars in back wages to 36 workers plus a matching 368000 dollar penalty for student housing at Miami University. The ruling, 5 to 2, eliminates trial court discretion on penalties and sends the case back for reconsideration.
