Man Indicted in Murder Attempt in Lorain County
Lorain man David McPherson, 34, was indicted on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault for January 3 attack on 65 year old Frank Momit, who was beaten, robbed of 20 to 30 dollars, and left in a garbage can before McPherson fled in Momit's 1997 Ford Ranger. Police recovered the truck with help from a driver who identified McPherson from a photo and led authorities to his West 27 Street home. Momit survived after three days in the ICU and McPherson awaits trial in jail on a 500000 bond.

Ohio tribe plans 130 acre Botkins site with casino resort costs 145 million
Envisioned on 130 acres off I 74 the Botkins location would host a hotel and retail casino resort at an estimated 145 million dollars. Similar sites Munroe and Lordstown also planned as large mixed use developments with costs up to 750 million and 300 million respectively while other sites are larger and not waterfront.

One of fifty one seventh and eighth grade students from eleven Lorain schools aims to win this year’s Chronicle Telegram Spelling Bee championship. Qualifying rounds begin Friday at Firehands South Amherst Middle School with preliminary bees across districts and dates through March 18 at Northwood High School. The winner competes in Washington DC May 31 and earns a $20 prize. attendees note Webster’s New International Dictionary editions and related materials backing the competition.
