Westlake may contract with extra water supplier
A Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court ruling allows Westlake to seek water from Avon Lake Regional Water if contracts with Cleveland end. The decision ends nearly four years of legal wrangling over whether Westlake must buy exclusively from Cleveland after its 20 plus year agreement. Westlake plans dual sourcing while keeping ties to Cleveland and Avon Lake, depending on contract terms. Cleveland says it will appeal the ruling. Avon Lake officials say Westlake must apply formally to present a future water plan.
