Large White House antiwar rally nets 62 arrests
Washington UPI Six two persons were arrested yesterday when they refused to leave the White House grounds during an antiwar protest targeting U S policy in Indochina and Ford clemency program. Comedian Dick Gregory and activist Elizabeth McAlister Berrigan were among those detained as about 200 demonstrators urged an end to aid for Cambodia and South Vietnam. The arrests, for unlawful entry, followed a one hour effort to breach the gates while supporters sang outside. President Ford was at Camp David and extended his career reentry program for a final month.
