Water pollution law ready Thursday faces strict city enforcement
Elyria prepares to enforce a new water pollution control ordinance taking effect next Thursday. The public safety and environment committee heard needs for two more testing technicians and a permit system for discharging liquids. The plan includes a pollution control board, an appeals panel, and a model ordinance to share with EPA and other jurisdictions. An infrared spectro-photometer was proposed, and funds may be sought from the Hill-Burton Foundation to finance new health department quarters.
