Ohio Ford locals approve new contract amid bitterness

All seven UAW locals at Ford in Ohio ratified a new pact, but Local 1250 faced a bitter vote with only 3,600 of 8,000 active members casting ballots and a narrow 280 vote margin. Local 863 and others also approved, while turnout and discontent persisted among workers wary of concessions and leadership.

Opening stocks rise as bomb blasts hit trading centers

The Dow gained 3.05 to 827.44 in early trading as the market edged up despite weak January indicators. NYSE and AMEX opened on schedule despite four bomb blasts by FALN in the financial district, with no injuries reported.
