Napoleon film by Gance restored for New York showings
The 1912 epic Napoleon by Gance, reconstructed over 13 years by Kevin Brownlow, is being distributed after a 300000 guarantee deal with Radio City. Coppola funded and organized a national tour with orchestral accompaniment, seeking proper venues and a capable orchestra before a European rollout at Venice. The restored version features innovative moving cameras and a plan to premiere in New York followed by a potential Piazza San Marco showing.
