Elderly farmer tends lone rhubarb patch on Center Ridge Road
Cecile Marie Kjaer, 89, tends a small rhubarb patch on four acres at 33806 Center Ridge Road in North Ridgeville. Once part of a 12 acre farm with berries, corn and vegetables, only the rhubarb plot remains, sold at 25 cents a stalk with pies in mind. She recalls farm life, makes rhubarb sauce and pies, and notes rhubarb is a tonic that can cleanse the blood.

Accident severs school custodian’s finger at cleanup site
Freshman high school head custodian Jean Hayes lost her middle finger when her wedding ring snagged on a sharp object in a dumpster behind the school.
