North Ridgeville council shuns full time dispatchers
In North Ridgeville, police dispatchers are only on duty 16 hours daily, leaving midnight to 8 a.m. Tuesday to Saturday and all day Sunday and Monday without dedicated dispatchers. Officers must handle emergency calls themselves, risking safety when responders are off duty. The Safety Director urges a round the clock dispatcher and cites potential use of auxiliary officers or reallocating funds to cover costs.
