Lorain Police Chief McCann to retire September 15
Lorain Police Chief Jim McCann will retire September 15 under a separation agreement with the city. He will be on paid administrative leave until then and cannot be rehired. The move follows an Office of Professional Standards probe into discrimination complaints by former Lt. Corey Middlebrooks and alleged comments McCann made about a “dirty cop” named Corey Earl.

Lorain artist and activist remembered at vigil for Kadi
Lorain police report a swimmer missing at Lakeview Park Tuesday morning led to the recovery of 20 year old Ayesha Kadi of Lorain. Kadi, transitioning to male and known as Jordan or Juice, was identified after a shoreline search by Lorain police underwater recovery, firefighters, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Friends said Kadi loved art and planned a streetwear startup in New York City. a candlelight vigil and waterfront walk were held that evening led by Mary Smink Worthy near the break wall.

Oberlin to unveil historic mural on Main Street wall
Oberlin partners with Firelands Association for the Visual Arts to install a historic themed mural on the south wall of the Hobb Building at 55 S Main St. Eight artists applied, with a selection panel choosing the creator by June 30.
