Vermilion residents seek referendum over 671 home rezoning
Two Vermilion residents filed a petition to block a rezoning that would allow a mixed use development of up to 671 homes on 300 acres along Sunnyside Road. DBR Commercial Realty and Dan Reaser push the project after Vermilion City Council approved the rezoning 6-1. Residents warned of school crowding traffic and density and pursue signatures with Avon Lake lawyer Gerald Phillips for a November vote.

Lorain Opens Dredge Material Reuse Facility On Riverfront
Lorain Council tours the nearly complete Black River Dredge Material Reuse Facility set to open by August. The 70 acre site along the Black River will turn dredged material into usable topsoil via eight geopools two solids basins and a water management area funded by 19.9 million in state grants from the Ohio EPA and the ODNR.

Lorain businessman Kris McCrone hosted a groundbreaking for the Lorain Ohio KartPlex, a 37.5 acre motorsports complex on the east side. Dump truck crash closes U S 20 in Carlisle Township
A 2005 Sterling dump truck struck the Route 301 bridge over U S 20 in Carlisle Township, spilling dirt and forcing the eastbound lane to close about three hours. Driver Malik Bush, 27, of Cleveland, sustained minor injuries as authorities investigated and reopened the road around 12:30 p.m. Local agencies assisted at the scene.
