In Memphis Tennessee a 14 year old Mrs. Mittie Hawks attends all home games of the Memphis Southern Association club. Francis Gee, a local businessman, arranged free taxi rides for her after hearing she takes a bus to the park. Miss Janie Hall of Greenwood Mississippi sent a zippered suede cushion and a wool blanket for extra comfort at the games.
Albuquerque patrolman Tony Hernandez said a woman asked him to bring water, milk, make her bed, fluff pillows, and leave a police whistle. He noted the task seemed outside the line of duty and questioned the request.
In Phoenix Texas League action Bill Van Heuitt of the El Paso Texans threw a ball over the left field fence in the ninth inning after misreading Jack Spence crossing home. Jack Haley, who had singled to left, then scored as Phoenix won 10 to 9.
