Longtime Elyria electrical worker Charles Sauer dead at 91
Charles C. Sauer 91 of Elyria died Monday after a long illness at Amherst Hospital. Born in Jersey City he moved to Elyria in 1920 and helped install Elyria’s first talking picture machine. He led electrical work for the Bendix plant in 1941 and was a 66 year member of IBEW Local 129, serving in all local offices. Survived by wife Florence, sons Alvin and Kenneth, a stepdaughter, nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services are planned at Dicken Funeral Home with masonry rites by King Solomon Lodge and burial at Ridge Hill Memorial Park. Memorials to Lake Avenue United Church of Christ.

Lorain Man Indicted on Defrauding a Livery Charge
Andrew Daniels of 1537 East 30th Street Lorain was indicted by a Lorain County grand jury on one count of defrauding a livery. He pleaded innocent at arraignment in Lorain County Common Pleas Court. Judge Floyd D Harris set a pre trial hearing for Monday. An indictment is a formal charge not a verdict.

Hazardous waste spill at Toledo area truck stop
Hazardous waste leaked from a truck that caught fire at Stony Ridge Truck Plaza near Walbridge sending at least 19 firefighters to hospital. Amherst boy struck by car leaves him in critical condition
A 9-year-old Amherst boy, Donald Anderson of 107 Hilltop Dr., was hit while crossing North Main Street and is in critical condition after sustaining a fractured left leg and cuts. The driver, Sherry Thomas, 22, of 221 Rye Beach Rd., Huron, was not charged. The accident occurred shortly after 4 p.m. Monday.
