North Park rink to gain three sided lid in Elyria

Elyria plans renovate North Park with a covered ice rink and a new locker room bathhouse for a new swimming pool at a cost of 1.2 million dollars. The ice rink will be enclosed on three sides to shield it from winter weather and should be ready by December.

Senate approves landmark tax reform in 97 to 3 vote

The Senate passes a sweeping tax reform bill by a 97 to 3 margin replacing 15 brackets with 15 and 27 percent rates, trimming deductions, and promising a conference with the House to reach a final measure. Reagan endorses the Senate approach as negoti ations begin for a final version.

LCCC considers $1 per credit tuition hike

Lorain County Community College may raise tuition by $1 per credit hour. The board of trustees will review the proposal at a 4 p.m. meeting in the College Center. Administrators say the increase is needed to balance the budget and keep charges in line with costs. Lorain students currently pay $23 per hour, out-of-county $32, and out-of-state $70.
