Summer storms dampen first weekend across Plains to Gulf Coast
Thunderstorms swept the Plains dampening the start of summer from Oklahoma to South Dakota. Heavy rain caused minor floods in Oklahoma with Tulsa at 2.2 inches and up to 5 inches nearby. The Guyandotte River in West Virginia rose toward 40 feet prompting a flash flood warning. Clear skies followed in the West while New England and New York saw chilly readings. Temperature lows dipped to 30 in Embarrass Minnesota and 44 in Muskegon Michigan tying the date record.
