Safe drinking water rules expand public notice nationwide
Beginning today local water systems must warn residents in writing if drinking water fails health standards under the Safe Drinking Water Act. The EPA enforces the program which covers about 40 000 community systems and 200 000 others while most already meet testing rules. Arson at Elyria plastics plant tied up guard

Man Charged in Scout Slayings Sought by Oklahoma Posse
Authorities in Locust Grove Oklahoma hunt for Gene Leroy Hart, a 23 year old convict charged with the sex slayings of three girl scouts Lori Farmer Doris Milner and Michelle Guse. A 400 member volunteer posse formed a cordon around five square miles using car headlights to illuminate the rugged terrain. The search followed Hart's escape four years ago and a cave fleeing suspect sighting near where the girls were found.
