Questioning sin and spiritualism in a modern moral light

The writer argues that teaching children life’s beauty and self control for universal happiness may yield better lives than focus on sin. He questions if selfish conduct is the core evil and warns against embracing caprice as law, linking it to societal crime and moral decline. He contrasts such views with the enduring need for a universal moral standard aligned with reason and revelation. He then discusses spiritualism versus spiritism, noting debates in England and explaining Christian spiritualism as open to evidence of life beyond the grave.
