Avon Village Through Time and Change in 1960s Avon
Norma Higgins chronicles Avon’s growth from its 1814 settlement by Wilbur Cahoon to rapid modern development. The piece tours rural to suburban shifts, noting greenhouses, new housing zones like Northgate, industrial land plans along Nickel Plate and water and road concerns. It closes with tributes to Albert Gibson and a community hall gathering marking his 70th birthday and 38th wedding anniversary.
