Deputy Murdered After Testifying in Washington
Harlin Kentucky June 23 Deputy Wash Irvin 35 longtime Harlan county deputy sheriff who testified before the Civil Liberties committee in Washington last April on labor conditions was shot to death in his car on Lonely Tina Mountain about 15 miles east of here. Irvin was shot in the back. He resigned as deputy yesterday after county officials purged the ranks. Irvin last night to Tine Mountain to hear the Louis Brad dock fight on his car radio. He was believed killed between midnight and 2 am. His body was moved to a local funeral parlor. Sheriff Middleton leading the investigation.
