Jones captures rare 200m and sweep at championships
Jones wins the 200 meters to complete a rare sweep of the women's 100, 200, and long jump at the USA Track and Field Championships in New Orleans. She clocked 10.72 in the 100 and a wind aided 23 feet 8 inches in the long jump, amid extreme heat. The feat echoes Cleveland's Stella Walsh in 1930 and 1948 and joins Carl Lewis’ men’s triple crown in 1963 as historic Columbus-style demonstrations of versatility.
