Marine soldier receives life term for Viet civilian killings
In Da Nang a Marine Corps court martial sentenced Pvt. Michael A. Schwarz 21 to life for murdering Vietnamese women and children. Co defendant Pfc. Thomas R. Boyd 19 cried during Schwarz verdict as his own trial began. Boyd requested trial by military court instead of full court martial and it was granted. A fifth serviceman, Cpl. Michael S. Krichten, 19, testified after immunity.

Ohio regent's son fires intruder at home

Albanian hijacks Pan American jet to Cairo amid unrest
A 30 year old Albanian with a cap pistol hijacked a Pan American 707 flying Beirut Rome Paris to New York. He forced the jet to Cairo where he was seized after landing at 1 20 pm. The flight carried 134 passengers and 10 crew. among them were General Gharabadi and one infant. A Tehran hijack of an Iranian Airlines jet followed with two students and a 12 year old seeking asylum in Baghdad. A separate Moscow report spoke of a Russian hijack attempt at Smolny Airport with possible Jews seeking Israel.
