Army Staff Sgt James Hunter Killed in Afghanistan Blast
Army Staff Sgt James Hunter 25 died in a Afghan bomb blast Friday while units of the 101st Airborne operated in the region. Hunter a 2003 Firelands High School graduate had lived in South Amherst and was born in Lexington Kentucky. His body was returned to Dover Air Force Base Delaware for funeral rites as his Firelands district community prepared to honor him.

Fire forces mass evacuations in Flagstaff Arizona
In Flagstaff two wildfires forced evacuation of more than 1,000 homes. Coconino County officials ordered 1,044 residences in three neighborhoods to leave amid a second blaze. A prior fire burned 350 acres, prompted about 170 evacuations, closed a hotel briefly and remained uncontained. A man was arrested for starting the first blaze by dumping hot coals.

Tornado Strikes Rimrock Arena Area in Billings
A tornado tore the roof off Rimrock Auto Arena and damaged nearby businesses in Billings Montana. The storm hit around 430 PM near Main Street and lingered near the arena for about 15 minutes snapping trees poles and leaving debris across the industrial area.
