Ground Water Shortages Forecast for Ohio
Ground water levels in Ohio are at their lowest since 1946 and will create as many or more water short areas this summer as last year. Recharge was below normal in 1953 and remained poor in 1954, forcing farmers to seek outside water sources and risking livestock watering shortages as stream flows stay well below normal. May rainfall was generally below normal across eight stations, with Chillicothe the only one above normal, and Lorain County area wells show continued decline versus last year.
