Best Lighted Ball Park In America
The Cleveland Indians claim Cleveland Stadium is the best lighted ball field in America with two floodlight batteries delivering over 50 million candlepower and a 1 400-household electrical load. GE engineers note 336 of 712 1500 watt lamps for main play, plus 376 more on roof structures for a total 124 million candlepower. The system, four and a half times the 1930 290 kilowatt setup, could light over 3 000 homes and 200 miles of highway.
