Johnston Pa June 21 The push for National Guard aid to the Johnstown strike area led to the Bethlehem Cambria Steel works closure. Sheriff Boyle said the telegraphed plea, signed by him and approved by Cambria plant manager Ellicott, prompted Gov Earle to order shutdown and martial law. State troopers and patrolmen kept watch as 90 maintenance men stood guard outside the Bethlehem plant, which normally employs 75 000 steelworkers. Bethlehem officials complied with the governor’s order amid fears of a planned march of 49 000 coal miners into the city. the march was later canceled at John L Lewis’s request.

Seven persons suffered injuries in traffic incidents reported to police and sheriff authorities Saturday and Sunday. Explosion at cottage claims life of young grocery worker
An explosion at a Ruggles Beach summer cottage killed Harold Yates, 25, of Oakland California, a grocery employee, as he attempted to relight a gas burner. Fourteen Pi Beta Phi sorority members from Ohio Wesleyan University were at the cottage. six were injured but expected to recover. Elyria residents among the injured include Gladys Plecher, Jean Plecher, and Mrs. Edward Champion, with Miss Anderson severely hurt after being pinned under a table. The cottage owner is Mrs. Effie Hecock of Elyria.

Tony LaCrosse, 52, of 119 Taft avenue, remained in Elyria Memorial Hospital after being struck by a car at West River and Furnace streets about 8 16 p m yesterday. He was helped to the hospital by James Lasky and Henry Miller. witnesses say he tried to dodge the vehicle but was struck by the front fender. Initial findings showed scalp lacerations and a possible skull fracture. X rays were planned to determine the extent.
